never come across this style of training and so I am interested to

"I am now running faster on my hill and flat reps, and I am becoming more consistent over longer distances as I am able to power up hills more effectively." "Just had a great start to the week, as on a 6mile run I matched my race time for the Egdon Easy. The training run had more hills, and was done on my own. This is a great leap forwards, showing my progress of the last 3 weeks." "Has been a brilliant week. I have noticed a lot of muscle growth in both my legs and arms and I think it is really paying off." However today I hit another [personal best] on a 4 mile run, one which I set before the car crash. This is a HUGE achievement, and has given me a boost going into this weekend’s race." "The race [6.5 miles] on Saturday was tough! Tough course, hard weather conditions and some good competition. I finished 10th in a time of 43.07 mins. This is a touch slower than I wanted to run, but I was still happy with the way I ran, and the final position. 138 people ran it this year." "So far this week has been very impressive. I have been showing improvements on all my times. I have been shaving between 1 min and 3 mins off my longer runs, and I have increased the amount of shorter reps I am doing on speed sessions." "To end this week I knocked a minute off a time I set last week on a route no more than 3.5 miles. Don’t quite understand why....I was tired and it didn't feel fast, but I will take that. Good times :D" "This week so far has been pretty amazing running wise. Managed to hit a [personal best] for 8 miles on Monday, and was averaging just over 6 min/mile the whole way, which is a huge progression since the beginning of the DPT method." I came second in my team, beating Jerry who beat me in the last two races of last season, one of which was the national XC at Parliament hill. I think I can attribute a huge part of my 1 min improvement to the training. This is because I find training in the summer hard, and I would not have had targets to chase so hard if I had not used this system. By using it I have not only increased my speed, but also my stamina and strength, which will be key this winter." -Graeme F. |

In 2006, Graeme, a cross-country runner, was in a head-on car crash with drunk driver in an SUV. With a combined speed of 100 mph and Graeme being in a small car, he was left with a broken left tibia, a broken right femur, a broken left big toe, a broken right elbow, a punctured lung, a ruptured spleen, a gash on his head and other minor injuries in comparison. He was initially told that he'd be lucky to walk and had no chance of running again. After a few operations and 4-6 months later it was apparent that he'd be able to walk again, but running was still a way off. After another operation and learning to walk again, step by step, he was able to slowly start running. One and a half years after the accident, he entered a race and came in 3rd to last. This was really hard on Graeme because he had done so well with running before the accident, but he never gave up! It was a lot of work but years later he was running again and completing races in times he was satisfied with. He then came across the DPT method, put it to use and was starting to see great results, some even greater than before the accident.
